Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Arizona
At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, what we do -- and do best -- is teach the science, practice, and business of the world of aviation and aerospace.
Since it was
founded just 22 years after the Wright brothers' first flight, the
University and its graduates have built an enviable record of achievement in
every aspect of aviation and aerospace.
The
curriculum at Embry-Riddle covers the operation, engineering, research, manufacturing, marketing, and management of modern aircraft and the systems
that support them. The University engages in extensive research, consulting, and related activities that address the unique needs of aviation, aerospace, and related industries. Residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida, and
Prescott, Arizona, provide education in a traditional setting, while an
extensive network of more than 130 centres throughout the United States and
Europe and a web-based distance learning program serve civilian and military
working adults.
Accreditation
Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097, Telephone: 404-679-4501) to award degrees at the
associate, bachelor, and master levels. The bachelor degree programs in
aerospace engineering and computer engineering at the Daytona Beach and
Prescott campuses, along with civil engineering and engineering physics at
Daytona Beach, and electrical engineering at Prescott, are accredited by the
Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for
Engineering and Technology (ABET). The bachelor degree curricula in
aeronautical science at both residential campuses are accredited by the
Council on Aviation Accreditation (CAA). Daytona Beach campus business
programs, both graduate and undergraduate, are accredited by the Association
of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs and by the CAA.
Federal
Aviation Administration-approved certification programs include maintenance
technology (airframe and power plant); flight (private, commercial, instrument, multi-engine, flight instructor, and instrument flight
instructor ratings); and flight dispatch.
Specialized Training
Embry-Riddle, in partnership with airlines and corporations, provides nondegree customized
flight training through the Commercial Airline Pilot Training (CAPT)
program, which qualifies candidates for first-officer positions in
transport-category aircraft. Embry-Riddle also offers training for aviation
maintenance professionals through the Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT)
department. These programs include FAA-approved airframe and powerplant
mechanic certification and a specialization in avionics line maintenance.
Federal Communications Commission certification training is also available
through AMT.

Extended
Campus /Distance Learning
Since 1970, Embry-Riddle has provided educational opportunities for civilian and
military professionals in aviation and aerospace who are unable to attend
classes at one of the University's residential campuses.
To
meet the varied needs of adult working students, Embry-Riddle established
the Extended Campus, with courses being delivered through the College of
Career Education. The College of Career Education offers academic programs
both in the classroom through a network of more than 130 centres throughout
the United States and Europe and through web-based distance learning.
The Extended
Campus maintains a comprehensive system of academic quality control for its
courses. The curricula, academic standards, and academic policies are the
same throughout the University and are modified only to accommodate certain
requirements resulting from different delivery methods.
