United States Universities, Colleges and Schools

United States Universities, Colleges and SchoolsThe IELP has been helping students learn ESL for over 20 years. The program is a member of state, national and international professional ESL associations and its teachers are enthusiastic, well experienced instructors in the ESL field. Each of our programs is designed to fit your needs, with textbooks and materials chosen carefully to help you to reach your individual goals. United States Universities, Colleges and SchoolsLittle Rock is the capital city of Arkansas, the Natural State. It is a friendly, cosmopolitan city located in the south-central part of the United States. The climate is very mild, but the seasons change; there are spring flowers, summer days filled with sunshine, falling leaves in the autumn, and cool winters with an occasional snowfall. The surrounding countryside is filled with many beautiful lakes and rivers, mountains and forests. Swimming, hiking, camping, fishing, golf, tennis and many other sports are available to all who live in or visit Little Rock. The city is the center of Arkansas' business and industry, and the 250, 000 residents enjoy many theaters, restaurants and shopping malls. There are galleries and museums to visit, and music lovers go to the opera, symphony and ballet productions. You could choose to go to a music concert at the new ALLTEL Arena or spend an afternoon at the zoo. You can walk along the banks of the Arkansas River and buy fresh flowers and fruit at the open-air market. Wonderful special events, such as ice shows, Broadway plays and circuses come to Little Rock as they make their tours around the United States. You will enjoy the friendliness of a small city mixed with the attractions of a big city - all in Little Rock. You will take placement tests on the day you start your program. Then you will be placed at the appropriate level (Foundations of English, Intermediate English or Pre-university/TOEFL Preparation) that represents your level of language fluency and your language needs. All classes will include listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, and grammar. The goal of the program is to help you improve your English skills and to go on to and succeed in an English-speaking college or university. You may also choose to take the IELP classes at the Intermediate English and Pre-university/TOEFL Preparation levels for university credit; however, the tuition cost will be different.

When you successfully complete this program and graduate from the highest level, you will not have to take the TOEFL or any other language test in order to pass the language requirement of UALR. You should have at least an elementary knowledge of English to enroll in this program. In addition to your classes, you will meet Americans and practice your English on trips and special activities.
