University of California - Irvine, also known as UCI or UC Irvine, is a coeducational, public research university. The institute was founded in 1965 and is located in Irvine, California. The college offers admission to more than 20, 000 students annually. The students can choose from a wide range of programs in liberal arts, computer science and engineering, therapy and Counselling, drama and performing arts, and science.

UC Irvine's sports teams are nicknamed the Anteaters. Peter the Anteater is the official mascot of the college. The institute boasts of nationally competitive teams for cross country, track and field, basketball, baseball, volleyball, water polo, soccer, sailing, swimming, and rowing.

The college boasts of some distinguished alumni such as Nobel laureates Dr. Frank Sherwood Rowland (Chemistry, 1995), Dr. Frederick Reines (Physics, 1995), and Dr. Irwin Rose (Chemistry, 2004). Joseph McGinty Nichol, another alumnus of UC Irvine, directed the “Charlie's Angels” movies.
