Founded in 1893, Southern Connecticut State University, or SCSU, is one of five state universities in Connecticut. It is located in New Haven, Connecticut. SCSU is the third-oldest campus in the Connecticut State University system. The university offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse fields of study. It is composed of several academic divisions. SCSU is home to various sports teams for both men and women. These teams are nicknamed the Fighting Owls. The women's basketball team won the NCAA Division II championship in 2007. WSIN (Southern Independent Network) is the college radio station and Southern News is the student run newspaper.
