Study at Indiana University EastIndiana University East, also known as IU East, is located in Richmond, Indiana, United States. It was founded on July 1, 1971. The college opened its doors in 1972, and the first classes were held with 633 students. The first chancellor of the university was Alexander Schilt. The campus spreads across an area of more than 170 acres and has four academic buildings. The first building, Whitewater Hall, was completed in 1976.
