Carleton College is an independent, non-sectarian, liberal arts, and co-educational college located in Northfield, Minnesota, United States. U. S. News and World Report rankings (2008) ranked Carleton College as the 8th 'liberal arts college' in the nation. The college offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse Course Topics. Carleton College's campus is spread across an area of 10 acres.

Carleton College has an active student life. The athletics department sponsors more than 15 varsity teams, over 20 club teams, and several other intramural teams. They participate in NCAA (North Coast Athletic Conference) Division III. The sports teams are nicknamed as the Knights. Some of the notable alumni of Carleton College include Thorstein Veblen, economist and author of The Theory of the Leisure Class; Anthony Downs, author of An Economic Theory of Democracy; and Garrick Utley, former host of Meet the Press.
