You ll see that after classes, as volunteers with ambulance corps or members of the village board; you ll see them at dinner with their families; or performing with you in the orchestra or choir. One class spent two weeks in Costa Rica, perfecting their Spanish, but also working in a community center. Another wrote and produced community radio shows. Engineering students introduced area high school students to the use of a scanning electron microscope, while others take their demonstrations on the road to nearby classrooms with science on Wheels. Students in a gerontology class work with nursing home residents, and sociology students study how domestic violence affects families in a rural area. Or perhaps it is a visit to another country. Alfred University is committed to providing an international experience for as many of our studentts as possible. For some, it will be a week-long trip as part of a class.
