Music at Five Towns College New York

You may not be able to get your degree in rock-stardom here at Five Towns College. but you will definitely get the tools you will need to survive in the music and entertainment industry. The professional and personal atmosphere is what makes this a place like nowhere else.

All of the professors, whether it be in the Business, Audio, Education, Video, or Theatre Departments have real life experience hat they bring into the classroom! very day. If something happens n the industry over the weekend, you are sure to learn about in class on Monday.

The classes in each degree program are unique. Not only do IOU get the basic college-to-college business classes, but you get classes in music industry topics such as Concert Promotion, independent Label Operations, and Artist Management. In the video and Audio programs you lave the opportunity to take courses that not only enhance four knowledge of your field, hey test your creativity. In the heater department, you will find courses not only in acting, but also in musical theatre and stage design. All students have he opportunity to take electives n programs that may not necessarily be their own. For example, a student in the Childhood education Program (if their schedule allows for it) may take in elective in theater or music.  Students at Five Towns College have an opportunity to learn a little bit of everything!

The classrooms are small and there are no lecture halls, so your professor will get to know you by name and not by number. Small class sizes allow professors to get to know you and watch your progress. If you are having trouble in a class, they will be sure to find a way to help you. You won't get attention like that anywhere else. One of the aspects of the school that attracts students is the small campus. All classrooms, studios, and offices are conveniently located in one building. Whether commuting or dorming, Five Towns College provides students with easy access to all facilities. Studios are open late to accommodate those audio and video people who wish to work on their projects after hours. Upper classmen are available to provide assistance to those less experienced students, providing a friendly, educational experience for all.

Students who choose to dorm currently live in a building at SUNY Farmingdale, which has  a shuttle bus service to provide transportation to and from the school. However, many students are looking forward to the brand new dorms being built right here on the Five Towns campus, which are expected to be opened by the Fall 2001 semester.

The opportunity at Five Towns College is endless. Students get involved in all aspects of cam- pus life. Student council events, such as holiday parties, game shows, music showcases and picnics provide a nice break from work.

Students run most of the shows, not only by performing, but by running sound and video as well as producing the event from start to finish. This experience not only entertains, but educates students on running shows as they would in 'the industry'.

The new athletic program has added a new sense of pride to Five Towns College. Although is in its infancy, the Five Towns sound' will surely prove to be an exciting addition to the college tradition.
