Study at Polytechnic University

The Polytechnic Institute of New York University, also known as NYU-Poly, was established in the year 1854. It is the second oldest institute of technology in the United States. Initially, it was known as Brooklyn Collegiate and Polytechnic Institute. It went through several name, location, and status changes before it was named Polytechnic University in 1985. In 2008, it merged with New York University and became Polytechnic Institute of New York University. It is now the applied sciences and engineering school of New York University.

NYU-Poly is located in Brooklyn, New York City, and enrolls more than 2,000 students annually. The institute offers a variety of degree programs in the fields of chemical and biological sciences and engineering, civil engineering, construction management, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, finance and risk engineering, humanities and social sciences, mathematics, mechanical and aerospace engineering, physics, and technology management.

Students of NYU-Poly participate in a variety of sports including baseball, judo, soccer, tennis, basketball, cross country, volleyball, golf, indoor and outdoor track, softball, and lacrosse. The athletic teams are nicknamed the Blue Jays or the Jays.
