The University of North Carolina Asheville, also known as UNCA, is a coeducational, four year, public university of liberal arts situated in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. It was established in 1927 as Buncombe County Junior College, part of the Buncombe County Public School System. After a few name and status changes, it adopted its present name in 1969. UNCA is part of the University of North Carolina system. THe university offers bachelor and master degrees and several other professional programs in diverse Course Topics.

UNCA's sports teams are nicknamed the Bulldogs. They compete in the NCAA Division I and in the Big South Conference. The Bulldogs are popular for their basketball team.
