Northeast State was originally established as the Tri-Cities State Area Vocational_technical School in 1966. It became a part of the State University and Community College System of Tennessee in 1983. It was given its present name on July 1, 1990. Northeast State offers associates degrees in over 50 programs of study. Students can use these degrees to transfer to a number of local and regional four-year colleges or universities.
