The University of Texas at El Paso, or UTEP, is a public, coeducational university located on the northern bank of the Rio Grande in El Paso, Texas. It was established in 1914 as The Texas State School of Mines and Metallurgy. UTEP is a member of the University of Texas System and the largest university in the nation with a majority Mexican-American student population. UTEP is subdivided into several colleges through which it offers more than 80 bachelor degrees, over 70 master degrees, and more than 12 doctoral degrees. The colleges are: -
