University of Alabama at Birmingham, or UAB, is a coeducational university situated in Birmingham, Alabama. UAB was founded in 1969. It offers programs of study that lead to bachelor, master, doctoral, and professional degrees in different fields. Some notable alumni of the university include Larry DeLucas, astronaut and research scientist; Clayton Colvin, artist; Deidre Downs, Miss America 2005; Derek Rios, Canadian Soccer Player; and Graeme McDowell, professional golfer.
